Terms of Use

THE SHORT VERSION

  • KatchTV.com is free. It arranges public videos from other platforms into live channels and plays them in each platform's own player.
  • We don't own those videos. Creators keep all rights and credit, and can ask us to remove a clip at any time.
  • When a video plays from YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X or Vimeo, that platform's own terms apply too.
  • Only submit links to public videos you're comfortable putting on air. Be decent.

This summary is for convenience. The full terms below are what count.

1. Agreement

These Terms of Use (the "Terms") apply to KatchTV.com, our TV and mobile apps, our emails and any related services (together, the "Service"). The Service is operated by KatchTV.com ("KatchTV.com", "we", "us"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

2. What KatchTV.com is

KatchTV.com is a programming guide and player. We select videos that are already publicly available on third-party platforms and arrange them into scheduled channels that play on a shared clock.

  • We don't host third-party videos. Videos from YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X and Vimeo play through each platform's official embedded player and stream from that platform. Every clip shows its creator and links back to the original.
  • Public-domain films. Some channels show public-domain footage from NASA and the Internet Archive (including the Prelinger Archives). NASA's appearance on the Service does not mean NASA endorses KatchTV.com.
  • Availability changes. A video may disappear or stop playing at any time if its owner or platform removes it, makes it private or limits where it can be embedded. Schedules, channels and features may also change without notice.

3. Who can use the Service

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18 (or the age of majority where you live), you may use it only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms. The Service is not directed to children under 13, and some videos may not be suitable for younger viewers.

4. Third-party platforms, content and trademarks

When you watch a video from another platform, you are also using that platform's service, and its terms and privacy policy apply to that use:

Videos shown on the Service remain the property of their creators and rights holders. Third-party content reflects the views of its creators, not of KatchTV.com, and we don't guarantee its accuracy, quality or suitability.

YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X, Vimeo, NASA, the Internet Archive and other names and logos are trademarks of their respective owners. They are used only to identify where content comes from. KatchTV.com is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of these companies or organizations.

We may link to other websites and apps. We don't control them and are not responsible for their content, policies or practices.

5. Our content and brand

The KatchTV.com name, logo and wordmark, the site design, channel names, schedules, text, graphics and software are owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. You may watch the Service for personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, rebroadcast, resell, frame or build a competing service from the Service or our schedules without our written permission.

6. Submitting clips ("Katch it")

You can suggest a public video by sending us its link, with optional details such as a name or @handle, where it was filmed and a one-line note (a "Submission"). When you submit:

  • You confirm the video is publicly available on its platform, and that sharing the link and your note doesn't break any law or anyone's rights.
  • You give us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to display your link, note and name or handle on the Service and in our promotion of it, and to play the linked video through its platform's official player for as long as that platform allows.
  • Your submission doesn't transfer ownership of the video, which stays with its creator. You don't need to be the creator, but you should never submit anything you know the creator wouldn't want shared.
  • We check submissions automatically and may also review them by hand. We may decline, remove or stop airing any Submission at any time, for any reason. Submissions are unpaid.
  • Don't submit content that is sexually explicit, hateful, harassing, violent or graphic, dangerous, deceptive, invasive of privacy or that features minors in an unsafe or exploitative way.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • break the law or these Terms, or infringe anyone's rights;
  • manipulate votes, rankings or countdowns, for example with scripts, bots or multiple identities;
  • spam, flood or automate Submissions or sign-ups;
  • scrape, crawl or bulk-download the Service, except through public search-engine indexing;
  • interfere with, disable or bypass any part of the Service, its security or any embedded player, including blocking or altering third-party ads or attribution;
  • pretend to be someone else, or suggest a false connection with KatchTV.com.

9. Sponsors and advertising

Some channels may be presented by sponsors. Sponsorships appear only on channels made up of public-domain or licensed material, and never on or within YouTube videos or players. Sponsored placements are labeled. Any dealings you have with a sponsor are between you and that sponsor.

10. Emails

If you subscribe to Katch of the Day, we'll send you a daily email, which may include one labeled sponsor line. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by writing to hello@katchtv.com.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement. We don't promise that the Service or any video will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, accurate or available at any particular time.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, KatchTV.com and its operators, affiliates and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue or goodwill, arising out of or relating to the Service or third-party content. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100).

Some places don't allow certain limits on liability, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have that cannot be limited under the law.

13. Indemnity

If you break these Terms or the law, or a Submission you make infringes someone's rights, you agree to cover reasonable losses and costs (including legal fees) that we face as a result, to the extent permitted by law.

14. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or end your access to the Service, or block Submissions from you, at any time if we reasonably believe you have broken these Terms or to protect the Service or others. Sections that by their nature should continue after termination, such as Sections 5, 6 and 11–16, will continue.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. Before filing a claim, please contact us at admin@katchtv.com, because most issues can be resolved quickly and informally. If you live outside the United States, you may also have protections under the laws where you live.

16. Changes and general terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, give reasonable notice on the Service. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept them.

These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms, but we may transfer them as part of a reorganization or sale of the Service.
